It takes 4-5 days to clear any foods to which you may be intolerant from your system – if you go back to (say) wheat or dairy too soon you won’t get the max benefit and you won’t get the reactions when you go back to those foods to show that they have been a problem – the Stop Counting Calories & Start Losing Weight book explains everything

Sorry to be a pain Zoe but is Soya milk aloud as I have been told that as it is made from soya and not from a living animal it is ok as an intolerance to it wont interfere with the first 5 days of the diet. Also can I use sweetners in tablet form.

Hi there – have an egg/bacon breakfast and have the brown rice allowance at a different meal. Or you can have porridge oats with water in place of the brown rice cereal (you will find 100g too much probably!) Just avoid wheat

Milk is not allowed in Phase 1 (the 5 days). Frozen veg are fine. You are best off not doing cardio because you will want to eat carbs and we are trying to reduce carb intake to sort out the 3 conditions that cause food cravings. Cardio is not very natural as exercise anyway – man (for the past 3.5 million years) has walked lots, sprinted short distances, built things, cleaned etc – he has not done aerobics!

We’re in heated agreement on the fast food and processed stuff – that’s the number one target. Cavemen didn’t do cardio because they needed to conserve energy! No way would they have ‘wasted’ hard hunted food even if they had the equipment.
Something that naturally raises the heart rate (not iron men stuff) is great for overall health, but you don’t need to do cardio to lose weight. Just eat naturally and move naturally (walk, clean, garden, cook, do normal stuff)

No cardio is just ridiculous. Cavemen didn’t do cardio for 2 reasons. 1) they didn’t have the equipment 2) they ate natural foods, not fast food and processed ****.

Absolutely – I don’t recommend cardio exercise at all – it’s not natural. Walk, talk, sing, dance, cook, clean and tend the land and that’s it. Caveman never did cardio work!

Hi. Zoe. I hope u will respond 2 this. I have been diagnosed with colon cancer & began chemo In Apr 2010. Since then I have gained 3 stones. This on a treatment regime which makes sufferers lose weight. My normal eating habits are akin 2 your phase 1. I did phase 1 once 4 a period of 3 days & lost 7 1/2lbs. I am wondering if I can do it again while on my chemo treatment? Please help.
